How do you calculate percentage change?

What does a negative percentage change mean?
A negative result means the new value is lower than the original value, so the change is a decrease.
Is percentage change the same as percentage difference?
No. Percentage change uses an original baseline, while percentage difference treats both values symmetrically and uses their average.
What happens when the original value is zero?
The usual percentage change formula is undefined because it would divide by zero.
Is a five-point rise always a 5% change?
No. A change from 20% to 25% is five percentage points but a 25% relative increase from the original 20%.
